History

Est. 1895

Originally founded by Quakers near the end of the 19th century, the town of Friendswood truly began to bloom in the 1960s when numerous employees of NASA purchased homes in the area. Today, CNN/Money Magazine has ranked Friendswood in the top 100 of their annual feature America’s Best Places to Live.

Schools

Friendswood is split between residents of Galveston County, who attend the Friendswood Independent School District, and Harris County, who attend Clear Creek ISD. Showered with exceptional recognition, ratings, and awards, both FISD and CCISD offer a numerous selection of coveted programs to instill their students with success long past their date of graduation.

Shopping

Baybrook Mall

A prime destination for residents in and around Southeast Houston, Baybrook Mall is a shopper’s paradise, combining indoor and outdoor retail stores and restaurants. Featuring nearly 200 different shops and boutiques, the mall can be found right on Interstate 45 only 18 miles outside of downtown.

Friendswood Shopping Center

This well-situated collection of businesses on S Friendswood Dr and FM 528 Rd offers a variety of local boutiques and shopping to fit anyone’s budget. This Center is also home to Perry’s famous pork chop, BBQ and other cuts of beef. 

Recreation

Stevenson Park

This park has all the amenities you can think of including a basketball court, 3 sand volleyball courts, 4 gated tennis courts, community pool, open field space to run around in for football or ultimate, a gazebo for concerts in the park, and tons of free parking in multiple areas around the park. They have playgrounds, restrooms, splash pads, other pavilion areas, and more!

Timber Creek Golf Club

One advantage of Houston weather is that all 365 days of the year hold the potential to be lush golfing weather. Located right on the northern edge of Friendswood, this superb course offers 27 holes across a unique design. True to the name, a winding creek runs through the entire golf course, giving use to the 13 bridges placed throughout.
